Asus Zenfone Selfie first Launched at Rs : 16000

Asus Zenfone Selfie first Launched at Rs : 16000

The ZenFone 2 Deluxe and ZenFone 2 Laser are variations on the disruptive, recently announced ZenFone 2. On the camera front, the device comes with a 13MP rear snapper and 5MP front-facing camera with PixelMaster tech. Do’h! A bigger battery would certainly help, and that’s exactly what ASUS has built into its ZenFone Max.
Asus announced a series of phones and tablets at its maiden Zen Festival event in New Delhi yesterday. Asus Chairman Johnney Shih launched the Zenfone 2 Deluxe, Zenfone Selfie, Zenfone 2 Laser along with showing a sneek peek at Asus’ high capacity battery sporting phone – the Zenfone Max.
Apart from this the Taiwan based company also announced the ZenPad 7.0 and ZenPad 8.0 along with a series of accessories such as the Zen Flash, Lolliflash and so on.
We had a brief hands on time with the Zenfone Selfie and here are our first impressions. The Zenfone Selfie was originally announced at Computex 2015. The phone is priced at Rs 15,999

This phone looks exactly like its other siblings in the Zenfone 2 family, having the same plastic body with a brush metal finish on the rear side, curved arc back, the power button on top and volume rocker behind and so on. Our issues with the power button placement remain. However, the build quality isn’t bad.
The one major addition is the placement of a 13MP front-facing camera along with dual-LED flash, the same setup that is also there on the rear side of the Zenfone Selfie in addition to a laser auto-focus section placed just on the left hand side of the camera. This is similar to the Zenfone 2 Laser which was announced by Asus yesterday.

The Asus Zenfone Selfie sports a 5.5-inch screen with a 1920×1080 resolution along with a 403 ppi. It is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 processor. The new smartphone will come in two RAM variants – 2GB RAM and 3GB RAM. It also comes with an option to choose between 16GB or 32GB of inbuilt storage and can be further expanded up to 64GB via microSD card.

MICROSOFT SURFACE TABLETS COULD BE HEADED TO INDIA

microsoft-surface-tablets-india-launch
Microsoft is said to be contemplating launching the Surface tablets in India. Times of India quotes Vineet Durani, Director of Windows Business Group at Microsoft India, as saying they are looking at bringing Surface to India, “following feedback from its current and potential customers including CxOs.”
While it’s good news for enthusiasts who have been long waiting for Microsoft to bring Surface to India, Durani warns that it won’t come cheap. Incidentally, the pricing had stopped Microsoft from launching Surface in India in the first place.
Durani however now says, “We feel there’s a market in India for all devices including high-end convertibles and the Surface is the perfect device to showcase Windows 10, which adapts to 2-in-1s easily with seamless switching between PC and tablet UIs.”
Microsoft’s Surface tablets are placed in the premium segment and are considered as laptop replacement for students and professionals on the move. To give you an idea of the pricing, the 12-inch Surface Pro 3 prices start at $799 (Rs 51,000 approximately), while the relatively cheaper 10.8-inch Surface 3 prices start at $499 (Rs 32,000 approximately). Both the tablets come without the Type cover, which costs an additional $130 or Rs 8,240 approximately.
With the likes of Micromax and Notion Ink launching affordable 2-in-1s in India, it would be interesting to see how Microsoft prices the premium Surface tablet. We would however advise you not to hold your breath for the Surface tablets, considering Durani hasn’t mentioned any timeline.

Xiaomi’s MIUI 6 OS adds style and function to Android

Xiaomi’s MIUI 6 OS adds style and function to Android

Chinese smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi launched its 2014 flagship, , and the device is set to on sale on Tuesday in the country for about $325.
While the phone isn’t exactly new, it does come with the latest version of MIUI, the company’s own flavor of Android. The Mi 4 is Xiaomi’s first device to get the update in English.
MIUI 6 isn’t just for the Mi 4 though; it will soon show up on other Xiaomi devices through 2015. We did a hands-on test of the Mi 4 last year, so this time around we’re looking at what’s new on the software side of things.

Home screen, themes and more

I like how MIUI is different enough to feel novel, yet familiar enough for any smartphone user to dive into. As with earlier versions of the OS, you can tap and hold the menu hardware button on the home screen and shake the device to neatly arrange your icons. MIUI 6 also lets you move and delete multiple apps at once, which works very well and makes a stronger case for doing away with the app drawer.

MIUI’s customization game is still going strong. Xiaomi VP Hugo Barra says there are now more than 8,000 themes available in the store, with over two billion downloads worldwide.
Tapping the menu hardware button brings up running apps as icons, but if you’d prefer larger app previews you can simply pinch out to see them.

Shiny happy icons

MIUI 6 has got a nice visual refresh, complete with colorful flat icons for default apps, and a range of motion effects and animations that make the OS feel subtly different from stock Android.

The cosmetic changes are definitely an improvement. Charming animations abound through the interface, from the volume control to the clock app to the running apps preview screen. Delete an app, and you’ll see the  icon burst into a cloud of dots, their colors drawn from the icon’s palette.
The status bar is also slimmer and sleeker, with updated icons and tighter typography that make for a more modern look while taking up less room.

n-built apps like Calculator, Calendar, Compass, Clock, Weather, Recorder and others have gotten a new look too. They’re pretty enough that I launch them every once in a while just to fiddle with them.

You’ll also notice nice little details in each. My favorite is the Compass, which uses the camera to become transparent when it senses you’re panning the device around to find an exact direction.

Better notification handling

MIUI 6 does a great job of accommodating power users’ demands while remaining easy to use, and the way it handles notifications is a great example of that balance. Essential apps that feature on a company-managed whitelist, such as messaging, email and calendar services, are allowed icon real estate on the status bar by default. Other apps, like games, music players and so on, are grouped automatically, so multiple notifications from them show as ellipses on the status bar.

Of course, you can adjust these settings to suit your preferences, but it’s nice to see an OS handling things smartly on its own. In addition, MIUI 6 uses less obtrusive floating notifications to display alerts when you’re running apps, and groups them on your lock screen so you can view them without having to fumble with your phone too much.
