Sony making up for PSN outage, offering discounts, subscription extensions

After the Playstation network was taken down by Lizard Squad, Sony is trying to win back its disgruntled gamers. In an official blog post, the company has appreciated members for their patience and also announced extension of subscription for its premium subscribers and is also offering discounts for others.
Sony will extend the subscription with five additional days for those who signed up for a PlayStation Plus account before the December 25.
“The extension will be automatically applied, so no action is necessary to receive the extension. We will post additional information here on the PlayStation blog when the extension becomes available. If your membership or trial ends before the extension is available, you will receive five days of Plus to enjoy once the extension becomes available (we will notify you when),” reads the blog post.
Besides, for all those who have been affected by the outage, Sony will be sending 10 percent discount codes. These codes can be used on all items on a single transaction. One could use it for anything from blockbuster new releases to add-on games.
“Sometime this month we will announce that for a limited time, we will be offering a 10 percent discount code good for a one-time discount off a total cart purchase in the PlayStation Store as a thank you to all PSN members,” the blog adds further.
Last week, Sony’s PSN and Microsoft’s Xbox Live was hacked by a group called Lizard Squad. While Xbox Live was back after a day, Sony’s PlayStation Networks experienced an outage for nearly three days.
